Completed in 2016, Erko transformed a former industrial site into a masterplanned residential community of 320 high-quality dwellings. Developed by Leighton Properties and LaSalle Investment Management, the 16,150 sqm site sits within the Ashmore Precinct and offers a well-connected inner-city lifestyle less than 5km from the Sydney CBD.
The development features architecturally designed apartments and terraces with generous private spaces, supported by new public areas and strong links to transport, Sydney Park, and Erskineville village.
Delivered in three stages between 2011 and 2016, Stage 1 comprises 263 apartments and a café, Stage 2 features 16 Torrens-title terraces, and Stage 3 includes 41 apartments across a single seven-storey building. Erko also introduced key pedestrian and cycle connections, establishing it as a successful model of inner-city renewal.
Future Place Project's Director, Beau Bartlett, whilst employed by Leighton Properties, was responsible for managing planning and delivery.

The NSW Government has introduced planning reforms and established the Housing Delivery Authority to fast-track major housing projects. The initiative supports the delivery of more homes for young people, families, and key workers, with new provisions allowing spot rezonings to progress alongside development applications—cutting approval timeframes by up to two years.
